I created a thread suggesting a "container" for the books in one inventory slot; This thread suggests to merge them in one, I think the "container" is a lot better because you could still have the books individually if you want.

Maybe they are planning to sell inventory slots. /end sacasm

Yes, making this part of interface is very possible indeed. No books at all in your inventory, thats another valid suggestion.

There are way more the 18 bytes of data that can be stored per invintory slot, since if you think about it, weapons and armor that take up 1 slot have just as many (if not more) permutations as a book. An helm for instance has to store a) what type of helm it is b) what color it is (which can be a combination of 4 different colors) c) what rune d) what insignia e) infused or not f) the name of who it is customized to. That's just as much data as page 1 - yes, page 2 - no, etc.

Besides, if there was a limit to max 18 "pages" as you say, it's simply in the software and the data. For a programmer, that's easy to expand, I could do it in my sleep and I can't create a massive game like GW. So surely Anet programmers could do that as well.

Sure 18 pages isn't the max that it can hold if they were to rework the system, but currently 18 items is the max, just as 250 items is the max for a stack instead of 255(or somewhere around there) - which I recall being said to be the stack max that GW was originally programed with, which was rounded down for a more even number - or having it at 999 items.

As I said, the containers are the same type of item as the books. As stated by Linsey, even in what I quoted above. And as someone else pointed out in the update thread, the books are variable items and (this part is uncertain - but I believe this to be true) that variable items cannot hold variable items.

What about just adding more inventory slots? this "IMPOSSIBLE" problems are soooo easy to fix.

I second the notion of increasing bag size. Maybe make it cost A LOT OF MONEH to balance it.

why not just have this compliation book have one book's worth of entries on each page?

does anyone REALLY need to have the sub-pages where it talks about the lore/dungeon/mission you have done 100 times?

condense it all down to a list.

I really love the WoW inventory (even when it's not perfect) you can put "special" bags for storing only specific items, and you can even craft (or buy) bigger and bigger bags, really really cool.

What about make this thing 10 slots? I will pay 50k for it, or make a hard quest.

This is the only solution to this option. More slots - storage or inventory.

How can a book keep track of 58 missions (just the campaigns) in what would be just 3 pages? Or do I misunderstand what you mean (btw, 18 items is the max in number, not size of the pages, unless there is heavy reprogramming).

And some people do want to read the journals - at least just once. I for one do, and I am sure that there are many people of the Lore Community that would like to see if there is something that is mentioned in there that is "new" to be mentioned (i.e., something not noticed in the mission or not in the mission at all).
